Eliza’s passion for community health has brought her a breadth of experience ranging from analysis and implementation to policy development and legislative advocacy. She has deep expertise in community health care, rural health, long-term supports and services, community collaboration and facilitation, and nonprofit financing and budgeting. She is highly regarded for her fluency with state and federal regulations, and policy and dynamic advocacy skills within those arenas.
For nine years Eliza led Hilltown Community Health Center, a federally qualified health center (FQHC), bolstering its operations and expanding its services geographically and demographically to reach underserved communities. She navigated the organization through the COVID-19 pandemic without closing any services, or laying off staff, and had no incidents of on-site transmission. She provided strategic leadership in a time of major shifts in health care financing, including the implementation of value-based payment models.
Eliza is recognized to have magnified the voice of Western Massachusetts and rural FQHCs in federal and state policy advocacy. Her state-level experience includes the Massachusetts Executive Office of Elder Affairs where she served as Director of Community Support Services and Coordinator of Alzheimer’s/Health Programs; and the late Mass State Representative Stephen Kulik to whom she was District Aide.
Eliza’s impact and reputation have grown through her service on numerous nonprofit boards. She currently serves on the boards of the Mass Budget and Policy Center (Boston) and Cooley Dickinson Health Care (Northampton). She holds degrees from Harvard University and Boston University School of Social Work.
Eliza is also a working farmer, as co-owner of Kinne Brook Farm (Worthington, MA). Kinne Brook Farm is an Animal Welfare Approved farm that was the first in Western Massachusetts to receive the “Certified Grassfed” designation from A Greener World.
